Unicorns' Turned Down Day

SOMETIMES UNICORNS
LIKE TO LIE IN THE GRASS
AND BE LAZY

FLICKING THEIR TAILS IDLY
RUBBING THEIR BACKS ON THE GROUND
BECAUSE THEY WANT TO

OR CHASE BUTTERFLIES

OR ENTERTAIN ROBINS ON THEIR HORNS

SNIFF FLOWERS AND SNORT

JUST BE QUIET WITH THEMSELVES

LIE TOGETHER WITH THE ONE THEY LOVE
A QUIET, TURNED DOWN DAY

TURN OFF THE MOTOR
TURN OFF THE MIND

BE CONTENT

THE GARDEN WILL HEAL THE BLISTERS
OF THE JOURNEY THEIR WORLD HAS SHRUNK
TO ONE'S HEAD RESTING ON THE OTHER'S NECK

IT IS ENOUGH
IT SAYS IT ALL

AND THE SOUND OF THE BEES FILL THE AFTERNOON
